Trailer
Director Garry Marshall offers a predictable carbon-copy of his Valentine's Day formula for
his latest film creation, New Year's Eve, which boasts a plentiful celebrity ensemble. This drama as well as romantic comedy, is a fun portrayal of relationships, the associated emotion over just one day and night in New York City.
The somewhat predictable, widely-different scenarios include: two couples who are expecting the birth of their child any minute who decide to compete for the first new year's baby honours, two people who become trapped together in an elevator, a terminally- ill man who is struggling to enjoy his last New Year's Eve, and an older woman and much younger man who have a task list of adventures to fulfill.

Character development is limited due to the logistics of frequent flipping between the storylines, however, the unique mixtures of personalities and chemistry are refreshing. The variety is what keeps us involved, and wondering if our own predictions will be actually be realize for each situation. Ashton Kutcher flirts
with Lea Michele, Zac Efron helps Michelle Pfeiffer find herself, and a daughter, Hale Barry attempts to reconnect with her dying father. A chef ponders rekindling a lost love, and a mother, Sarah Jessica Parker, stresses over her daughter's New Year's Eve partying plans, and contemplates an evening of serendipity.
The large collection top actors and actresses gathered for this romantic comedy/drama, ensures there is indeed an interesting situation, or someone for everyone. The storylines are light, and easy, simple, and relaxing. Some feel-good messages add to the overall experience, with New York City the ever-impressive backdrop that undoubtedly works to create those magical New Year's Eve midnight moments we all look forward to.
